Why there is no cookie banner

Under Article 5(3) of the EU ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) and GDPR, consent banners are required when a site stores or reads non-essential information (such as cookies, localStorage, or fingerprinting identifiers) on your device, or shares personal data with third-party ad networks.

EuropeVisaJobs sets zero cookies (no Set-Cookie headers and no document.cookie), writes nothing to localStorage or sessionStorage, and loads no third-party advertising or behavioural tracking scripts. Because nothing is stored on your terminal equipment for tracking, a cookie banner is not required.

Data controller & contact

What data we process & lawful basis (GDPR Art. 6)

  1. Weekly job alerts (POST /api/subscribe) — Explicit Consent, Art. 6(1)(a)

When you subscribe to weekly job alerts, we store your email address, optional country filter, optional role keyword, the page you subscribed from, and the UTC timestamp. Your email is used exclusively to send weekly digests of newly verified visa-sponsored tech roles in Europe. We never sell, rent, or share subscriber emails with employers or third parties.

  2. Employer inquiries (/employers/) — Pre-contractual Steps & Legitimate Interest, Art. 6(1)(b) & (f)

When an employer requests outbound apply-click statistics or a featured role invoice, we store the submitted work email, hiring country, and company/careers URL solely to respond to that inquiry.

  3. Anonymous aggregate traffic & apply-click counts (/api/event & Cloudflare Web Analytics) — Legitimate Interest, Art. 6(1)(f)

To count how many people view listings and click through to employers’ job boards without tracking individuals, our edge worker computes an ephemeral daily hash: SHA-256(UTC_date + IP + User-Agent + salt) truncated to 16 hex characters. Raw IP addresses are never written to our database or disk, and the daily hash rotates every midnight UTC so visits cannot be linked across days. We also use cookie-free Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregate page performance metrics.
